Re: Tutorial 10

Hi dude,

The last such query you submitted (regarding people parking and who owns what) remains unresolved. If others' ideas on the forum are not helping with that, they may not help with this. Either way it would probably be best to resolve the first dilemma before embarking on a second?  :  )
Well not too much to update besides it helped me to get a better look at the whole situation. Basically it never happen anymore (at least i didn't spot it) the only change i did is i put a sign in the garage that you can't park here, maybe it worked? smile

Similar questions arise here as last time: who owns the property these people are hanging out on? If it is 'public property' there should be some council or organization who are supposed to look after it, but it isn't yours.

Well, yeah of course the block/street isn't mine, no problem to people hang around there, even drink have drugs or whatever they like, as long doesn't create problems to other people in one way or another (in this case, the sleep at night)

Adapt
You will get used to it. Biology makes sure we get enough sleep if we let it. When first moving to a city I was kept awake by noise for a few days, them the system adjusted, and in the meantime I tool lunchtime naps. Kids adjust really fast and will sleep in a disco.

Alternative: change your sleeping time. Biology won't mind as long as you get enough. The best way to change sleep patterns deliberately is slowly; otherwise you risk jet lag without the jet.
Always a possibility, but is a lot of hassle, because even if i could do that, the days/hours that they come is random, so some day can stay there from let's say 1-2 am and other days around 3-4 am. And probably the rest of my family will not be so happy to do that (they have to work at rigid times and can't choose when is time to sleep)

SFX department
If people are starting to hang around your area who are a genuine threat to you and you feel a need to repel them, there are several smart tricks including collecting doggy poop and leaving it where they like to sit (obviously not viable if it's right outside your home). Another resort is the moment you first hear them call the cops and report them for peeing in the street (its really hard to prove one didn't do this, if reported by a witness.)

Fake vomit will stop people from sitting down or hanging around near it, and it can be made very easily with custard powder, milk, and orange juice with added chopped food scraps. It doesn't smell as bad as real vomit but can build up quite a pong if left in the sun for a while.
This ones btw are pretty good ideas smile , i thought too that i can install some very good lights (ones that iluminate a lot, the ones does have sensor and turns on), here is pretty dark and i know that probably they feel comfortable in a place like whitout too much light.

Then there's attack from many directions.
You send several letters (each different, for example one typed, two in different handwriting) to the relevant authorities pretending to be three 'neighbors' complaining about the same thing. An even better option is to get three different real people to complain. A couple of phone calls in different accents from public phones or 'one-use' cellphones also helps. If coordinated well, to the authorities it looks like lots of people are complaining and they tend to take it more seriously than just one.
Yeap i was thinking something similar too, something like "last alternative".

Finally, never underestimate serendipity. I once hammered on a neighbors' door in London at 3am after doing a night shift, as they were having a really loud session. I turned up in a dressing gown with a fire axe, and said, "I've come to fix your stereo". The Rasta who opened the door cracked up laughing, invited me in to the party, and became a best friend over the few years I was there.
LOL Hilarious smile

Well i have some experience talking to people like theirs, the thing is, is hard to them not see you like a threat, in a sense that they feel "weak" in front of their friends if the agree to leave when they are in a state of some alcohol/drugs (pretty much common), the last time i talk to them i must admit that probably i come out a little in bully mode, but i did my best and one said me "yeah whatever just call the police if you want" (and i didn't threat them to call them), half of the group had some brains and leave the rest keep there.

Maybe these dudes are bored. Maybe they'd be interested in neurohacking  :  )
Definetly bored, and that is their way to keep theirselves a little more "sane" (that's because i try not to judge them), ... probably not interested in neurohacking, but for sure at the need of it =)

Thank you

This isn't really true in its current form, unless these people are slaves. It needs replacing with “They CHOOSE to work at rigid times....”

...Which, being the paragons of Bushido that we are, is in all humility none of our business. We are not responsible for the choices of others; merely our own. That's why we've all got separate brains instead of being joined at the neck  :  )

Re: i thought too that i can install some very good lights

We have these front & back, (but remember it may not be legal to install anything on property which isn't yours.)

Re: "yeah whatever just call the police if you want"

A good interactive response would be: “No way! -they make even MORE noise!”
If you put your mind to it there are a lot of ways to go around this problem, from soundproofing to swapping rooms (do you have a spare room that is further away from the noise?) to strategic interference if the guys are actually aggressive (such as, snapping pictures of the people, dumping an old bicycle somewhere there's no cctv, and reporting how you saw these people nick your bike). But the way that benefits us most is to adapt to as many different circumstances as possible, so that we become more or less impervious to annoyance and can concentrate in the heaviest chaos. That's the path that improves our own abilities, where we actually gain something from the problem, and it's the least hassle. Remember from their pov, YOU are the one interfering with their chillout time  :  )

What a shame these folks can't sit in the their own homes and chill out with their families...and how appreciative we are for being able to do so!
Best,
AR
