Glossary of neuro terms

Hi dudes,
Terminology is a nightmare in the field of neuroscience at the moment.

It's understandable, because wherever there is rapid growth and new discovery on a large scale this problem arises (consider quantum physics in its infancy) but we have professionals using half a dozen totally different names for the same things, people inventing words with a robust approach to etymology and spelling, and mislabeling functions bigtime due to outdated paradigms, especially of emotion and empathic functions and in recognizing dysfunction.

We lack a coherent and consistent glossary for brain & mind studies and this is something I've tried to address in the tutorials etc. If learning is to be clear, quick and simple we also need to get rid of all the outdated terms that don't mean anything in reality. Would anyone have the time and inclination to assist in constructing a glossary to address these issues?

This would really help newbies get around research articles that use outdated terms, align our language so we all know what each other are talking about without constantly having to query semantics (eg notice how often we are slowed down by having to ask:  "what do you mean by...?") and it would also be useful for mapping the mind program, when we get that far  :  )
Best,
AR

Re: Glossary of neuro terms

Hi dude,
Mapping the mind usually refers to attempts to portray correlation of structure and function (i.e., showing which bits of the brain are active when certain functions are being used or abilities demonstrated.

A few of us here are interested in mapping the eidetic code that network 3 uses to map reality (you may need to wait for a few tutorials to understand this!) That is to say, instead of mapping the hardware (brain structure) to function of mind, we are mapping software (mind program) and its correlation to intelligent behaviors.
Best,
AR
